Why hello there! Fancy meeting you here again πŸ™‚

I didn’t have intentions of being away for so long, but it some how happened. Between work, and the feeling of losing my writing niche; it was becoming hard to really focus on this wonderful venture that I started.

The positive of all this has been that I have reevaluated, and will continue to share my love of food and dogs.

Here are some highlights from while I was away:

*Deep breath* My family and I participated in the Walk to End Alzheimer’s, Adrian and I went to our first Dia de los Muertos parade, he wore a cowboy hat, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and our friends birthday. *phew!*

This is me currently:

Drinking tea in bed, whilst watching The Never Ending Story . I’m in the early stages of being ill. The sinus pressure, body aches, mucus…all the glamour is happening as I write. I raise my cup in hopes that it passes quickly.

Well…I’ve missed you, and am excited to be back. Let’s see what trouble we can get into this year.

Day Trippin’.

Chile chile chile chiiiiiileee…CHIII-LE!!! That was the theme song of yesterday’s excursion (Yes that was to the tune of “For the Love of Money” by The O’Jays).

Off I journeyed with Mama Bear and Tia Margie on the three hour ride to Hatch, New Mexico. We met up with my Tio Willy and Tia Selma who stayed in a town over and together we visited the Hatch 42nd Chile Featival. As we came up the hill before town, we could see the massive line of cars waiting to enter the Festival. We drove past the line, the smell of roasted chile hit us in the face. Mmm!

Since the line ended in the middle of town , we decided that’s where we’d start.

20130901-142607.jpg Mama Bear thought she’d try and be sneaky and not take a pic, but I got her!! Hahaha

The streets were lined with vendors. Who knew chile was so popular? The colors were so vibrant, and though the aroma of the roasting was strong it was still a delight.

One of the local businesses covers their roof with hundreds of chiles every year for the festival; its definitely a sight to see! We wondered the town ( I even took a picture as a chile!), had lunch (red/green chile pork burritos. so tender and the perfect amount of heat!), then we went to the actual Festival.

Since we got there later in the day, unfortunately we missed the cool events. They have a parade and chile eating contests. From the green chile burrito I had at lunch, I’m sure eating them plain was no easy task!
It was still packed when we arrived. There were carnival rides, live music and mud volleyball. Throughout the whole day there was never a shortage of chile anything. Candy, jams, popcorn, jerky, apparel….they had it all.

It was a great day spent with family. Between the random car ride conversations that made us laugh till we had tears, and the sights I couldn’t ask for anything more.

Have any of you ever been? Do you prefer red or green chile?

Ta-ta for now! ❀

Pleasantly Surprised.

It’s amazing how time flies whilst wondering around Walgreens. It was nearing dinner time so I texted the man friend to see what I should pick up or maybe we’d grab some fast food. Much to my delight his response was, ” Lets’s go somewhere :)”. I immediately scurried to check out to get home and get ready.

Dinner was absolutely splendid.

Yes, the man friend and I live together, however that doesn’t mean we actually spend a lot of quality time together. It’s always nice when just the two of us can “get away” and enjoy each others company. We got out of our comfort zone and tried random rolls of sushi and indulged in some beer (I had to have a Sapporo!).
We got to people watch, catch up with each other and most importantly: relax. There’s nothing better then being in the moment and enjoying it with my sweetness.

No pictures, it was a technology free evening for the most part. Although I will be sure to take some shots on my day trip tomorrow. I’m very excited- Mama Bear, Tia Margie and I will be going to a Chile Festival tomorrow!

What’s been going on with everyone? Getting ready for the long weekend?

Can’t wait to catch up on my blog reading this weekend!

Sweet dreams ❀

Highlights(in life, not hair.)

Hell to the yes- we have hot water back!!! We had to relocate our gas meter, and for safety they turned off our gas for a week. Total first world problems, but I’m beyond happy that we’ve got it back. Cold showers are not for this girl.

The start of the work week was pretty crappy, but I actually got to leave early today and my coworker gave me a pair of sandals she was getting rid of.

Not to shabby. Just got to make an outfit to go with it πŸ‘

Mama Bear finally came back from her trip, and she had a blast! I got to hear all about it as I drove her home in the twister like storm we had yesterday. I kept expecting a cow to whirl past the windshield hahahaha
Get excited because we’ll be back in the kitchen tomorrow, and may have a guest cook.

And my new current favorite thing:

SLAM! It Advocare’s version of a 5 Hour Energy, only way better and good for you. I’ve had awful experiences with 5 Hours, so I was a bit skeptical. To my delight, the Slam was delicious and I didn’t feel queasy or jittery after. I had sustained energy and no crash-bonus!

I feel like I’m missing something…meh. How’ve ya’ll been?

If your day or week has been a little rocky, I hope this brings a smile to your face…

How Could I Forget!?

The weekend is upon us once again ya’ll! Unfortunately we won’t have any kitchen time (bummer I know). Mama Bear is going on a road trip with my Tia Margie (luckies) for a whole week! I am not am totally jealous! They’re going to have an amazing time, I’m actually super excited for them. But who’s gonna cook with me?

So since I didn’t post it last weekend, this is what we whipped up:

Loaded Potato and Buffalo Chicken Casserole!!! I found it on Pinterest (of course), and had to make it. I ended up making one for the Tia’s and one for Adrian and I. I really liked it, just wish I added more cheese. You can never have too much cheese.

I’m just relieved that tomorrow is Friday. Things have been a little stressful lately. I’ve been doing my best to keep it together, and not be such a worry wort. I can’t help it, it runs in the family. Maybe I just need some rest…that sounds good. :]

You know what else sounds good? Buffalo wings from Rocco’s. Lets see if I can talk my Adrian into it.

Hope you’re week has been great!

Mini Celebrations.

Ahhhh, nothing like the end of the work week!

The jersey is out! Not only is it Friday, the Cardinals had a Pre-season game against the Packers. We won by the way. :]

I’m trying to contain my excitement for the weekend. I made Turkey Joe’s, wings, and we’ve enjoyed some delicious Honey Brown lager. Mmm mmm mmm!

Tomorrow some cooking time with Mama Bear and hopefully some lazy time. I will keep you posted ;]

Sighs of relief ❀

To Whom Ever Gives a Rats Ass

Jimmy crack corn- it’s been how long since my last post!? No bueno! Don’t worry I’m still alive.

Work is slowly taking over my life. I’ve been doing overtime and it seems like it’s never going to go back to normal. Adrian said I was even talking about it in my sleep :[ I’m hoping next week things will settle, and I won’t have to go over 10 hours a day. *crossing fingers and toes*

What I haven’t been skipping on is kitchen time!!! πŸ™‚ It’s now being done on Saturdays, and we’ve concocted some pretty tasty meals.

I made a Paleo pizza (the dough was made from cauliflower!) and Mama Bear made loaded sweet potatoes! Most recently we made Lemon chicken, and just today I made spinach spaghetti with mozzarella stuffed chicken meatballs! Eating healthy doesn’t have to be boring πŸ˜‰

Oh! We completed out Advocare 24 Day Challenge!!! Super proud of us, especially Adrian. He’s lost 26lbs! It’s not just the weight loss, it’s the over all benefits that have really made a difference. More energy and better sleep. Can’t wait to continue.

What else, what else… I had an awesome girls night with my best friend Micky. It was so fun just talking and having our own commentaries to the movies.

20130807-211848.jpgThe wine was nice too hahaha

Just so we’re clear, I’ve missed you oh so much! I’m making it a point to find some way of getting back into my bloggy groove.

How’ve you been ? :]

Life Update!

Time dragged yet flew by this week ( its possible!). I was beyond ecstatic for the weekend to be here, especially with all the long shifts I’ve had. Whatever- work is work blah blah blah, on to the good stuff! :]

Wednesday marked the end to our cleanse phase with the Advocare 24 Day Challenge!!! Woo hoo! Now only twelve more days to complete it. I’ve enjoyed it, a weird as that sounds.
I haven’t felt hungry, in fact, I feel like I’m eating all the time! The best part is definitely my increased energy. I wake up bright eyed and bushy tailed. Plus I’ve been sleeping like a baby.
Weight wise I have lost about 6lbs, not to shabby. Adrian has lost 15lbs!!! He’s doing awesome, I’m super proud of him. It’s been fun meal prepping and cooking more. Now we just have to get on our work out routine.

Speaking of cooking, Mama Bear are having some kitchen time tomorrow. Entree AND dessert- all healthy of course! Super stoked.

Precious moments!

What’ve ya’ll been up to? Any plans for the weekend?

Now for some bro/cousin time with the gents!

Savoring Sunday.

It’s Sunday night already? Geeze…why couldn’t the weekend just have one more day.

The last week also flew by (thank god.), and I’m glad it did. Work has been getting a little crazier. I can handle that, but I’m one of those people who likes SOME guidance so I know what I’m doing. It gets frustrating not knowing reasons and the function of things. *sigh* This week we’ll be short a person, I’m hoping for no breakdowns.

Aside from some stress, things have been good. The Advocare cleanse is going well actually! We been cooking, food prepping, snacking and hydrating like machines. Adrian’s already lost almost 10 lbs, and I feel over all better. I even feel lighter. We’ve been sticking to the guidelines, and are ready for phase two!

And finally- some cooking time with Mama Bear! Today we concocted a Ground Turkey Casserole( I got the recipe from Pinterest.) Well for us it was more of a ground turkey and elk casserole (you know we love modifying things!). We also added some chipotle chile for some kick.

It was an awesome afternoon of chatting and chopping. While we waited for it to bake, I had Mama Bear show me the first few episodes of Drop Dead Diva. She’s been raving about it, and I didn’t want to just cook and leave! Hahaha The show was so good! It’s funny and really heart felt, can’t wait to watch the rest of the season.

Hope you enjoyed this wee post. I have to hit the hay. I have to be at work early unfortunately, but maybe I’ll get out early. Fingers crossed! πŸ™‚

Sweet dreams and easy breathing! ❀

Worst Blogger Ever.

If that was an award, I’d win it. With my new work schedule, I haven’t had any cooking time with Mama Bear. Yes, I have also had writer’s block been lazy (okay, you got me!). I’m working on it- got to take it one day at a time.

I did get to enjoy a nice four day weekend. Happy late 4th of July!!!

Adrian and I went to my Tia Margie’s for a BBQ. We had a perfect view of the fireworks and got some sparklers as well.
We also went bowling for his brother John’s birthday(he’s a Fourth of July baby) which was a blast!

Since Mama Bear had Bella for the weekend, I went up to hang out with her. We got to run some errands and do some window shopping as well. Gypsy and Bella we’re a bit sad when we were leaving. They love it there.

Today is also the last day of eating crap. Adrian and I are starting the Advocare system, and tomorrow is the beginning of the cleanse. I’m super excited to get it started, and even more so that we’re doing it together. Wish us luck!

How have you been? Hope you had a great weekend all!
